# InflationMonk > Free salary & purchasing-power inflation calculators for 41 countries, built on official government Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. InflationMonk shows how inflation has changed the real value of an income or amount of money over time. Enter a salary and the date it was last set, and the tool reports the inflation-adjusted value today and the cumulative loss of purchasing power, using each country's official CPI series. ## How it works - Calculations use official CPI data published by national statistical agencies (e.g. the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the UK Office for National Statistics, Eurostat members, Stats NZ). - The adjusted value is the original amount multiplied by the ratio of the latest CPI to the CPI at the chosen date. - Data is updated monthly, shortly after official CPI releases.
